Baha! Bagyo! Bwisit!

Enjoy naman kami, there is never a dull moment basta isa sa amin ang nagpatawa or humirit.

So in short, kasalanan natin ito :)

ToyCon 2008!

I think i got your attention there :)... I took that picture while waiting in line to buy tickets @ the Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall. She is dressed as Tifa (I think) from FFVII.

Welcome to ToyCon 2008! a convention for toys (of course), animation, comics and more! The event includes band performances, comic artists talk, cosplays, film showings and some other stuff. It spans for 2 days, June 15 - 16 but i only attended day 1 because I was too wasted to go the following day :) Ticket costs 80 Pesos per day and I can say that its worth it. There are lots of items to buy, booths to see, cosplayers to take snapshots of and even draw using graphic tablets.

The convention is scheduled to start @ 10AM but I was too lazy to leave my bed so I arrived there around 2:00PM... I didn't went straight to the event but I searched the mall for a Canon 50mm 1.8 Prime. Too bad Canon D-Zone didn't have any stocks so I just went up to the Megatrade Hall to immerse myself to the pool of people wanting to get inside. The line was long but it took me around 15 mins to buy my tickets, I strapped my camera to my neck and off I go to start shooting stuff.

First thing I realize upon entering the venue is its TOO DAMN SMALL! the crowd literally bumping each other just to navigate inside. It may be a good idea to change the location of the next ToyCon to a big place like the SMX Convention Center @ SM Mall of Asia. I was so stressed just going around (especially with my built) and I got tired pretty quick. That explains why I didn't attend day 2 :)

There are a lot of anime stuff inside, from dvds, plushies to keychains and hats. A lot of Marvel/DC/Starwars merchandise to make your mouth drool because of the price. There are booths for online games, comic artists, and a booth were you can use a digital graphic tablet to draw comics and mangas directly to your PC.

After a while, I got tired of walking around and i just waited around the main stage where the cosplay is supposed to take place. On stage was an award ceremony for Mars Ravelo (creator of Darna, Captain Barbel... etc.) for his achievements for the emergence and being one of the pioneers of Pinoy Comics. After that, an all girl band , My Odessa (I hope I got that right), rocked the crowd for somewhat a stellar performance. Not bad at all. And then, the event that everybody was waiting for... It's Cosplay Time!

There are around 150+ contestant who went to the stage that afternoon. Cosplayers comes in different sizes, age, gender :), and racial origin. Some of them are extremely interesting and some "napadaan lang". I can't find enough words to explain the Cosplay so just checkout some snapshots and the full album here

Check out my 6 packs Bords! Ahooo! Ahooo!

A trip back to our Alma Mater

When I bought my new camera at Camerahaus SM Manila, I was already planning where or what I am going to shoot. I was so excited that time because I know that after a week, we will be going to subic for some hot summer swimming at Subic... But unfortunately, some backed out on the very last minute so we had to cancel it. I immediately called my barkada if they have plans on that day, and they suggested that we could visit MOA and start shooting along San Miguel Seaside Boulevard. I immediately agreed because there is no better thing to do on that day anyways. :)

The day came eventually, i was so anxious to go that i cannot sleep the night before and I woke up earlier that my usual Saturday rest. I woke up, packed up my gear, took a bath, ate lunch and waited for my friend to arrive at my house. we left my house at around 1PM and i suddenly felt an urge to go to UST and to shoot some picture and to be able to start our barkada's blog. and so our adventure began.

First thing I noticed when we went inside the campus is hmmmm... nothing changed much!. the same old buildings, same old pavilions and some faces that you normally see in the campus (guards etc.). But being back to your Alma Mater brings back a nostalgic feeling that makes you want to study there again. I missed the days when we would cut class in order to play in a nearby computer shop (yes, medyo pasaway kami noon hehe) or the days that we would just sit down near the "Hard Rock" in front of Roque Ruaño Bldg (Engineering Bldg).

The atmosphere is still the same, it didn't change after 2 years... I was kind of hoping that there were classes already so that I could visit our old professors and some colleagues maybe that are working for the university but its still vacation time so no one is around :)

During those days, our usual "tambayan" is the middle pavilion beside the UST field, we normally held our barkada gigs there. Me and Gene plays rhythm, Mondz usually plays lead, Gian and Garri on Percussion and Jeric for Vocals. I remember that we can stay at school up to 10PM just by staying at that pavilion chatting, singing, occasional drinking and the very reason why we stay... Babe watching :).

How I miss the old days. I wish I could go back and study again with my old HS/college friends.
I know... Ill just arrange a reunion! a little get together... just like before :)

More pictures from the trip :)
